I find answer boards interesting yet annoying!

There is alot on there that I wonder why people waste their time and energy but then I can see the benefits of a great way to exchange info. I posted a question and am looking forward to seeing the results.

It is a good way for librarians to use their reference skills and promote what librarians do. With regards to customers rating our collections and services, I can't see Council supporting this.

I'm impressed with the quick play I have had on del.icio.us so far. I am currently planning an overseas trip with friends and it is a great way for us to share and keep track of what we find on the web as well as seeing what other people have tagged on Greece and Italy. I am looking forward to having more of a play on the weekend.

With regards to work (that is the real reason we are doing this afterall!) I think it would be good for reference work sharing finds between our 8 branches.

What a wonderful way to waste a lot of time! You could spend hours just searching and watching. From the look I have had today plus previously, I can see there are many funny and talented people out there.

With regards to how we could use it here, it would be useful for training. We have a number of branches and it might able to be part of an online training package. Would need some more thinking about how exactly.

Really liked the videoclip. Myself and a colleague were asked to set one up for a committee and we had no idea what we were doing. Within an afternoon, after finding this clip, we had it all set up including the start of the content. I like the capabilities of allowing the sharing of ideas, findings and blogs etc.

RSS Feeds

RSS feeds were quite easy. I signed up for LibraryBytes and The Shifted Librarian to see what was going on in Library Land in different parts of the world, also signed up for the Picture of the day from the Powerhouse Museum, which is where the picture is from. I signed up for

ABC News - Just In which is good for skimming the headlines.

RSS feeds will be good for professional development.

Learning While Dreaming

It is great to be able to combine learning and dreaming at the same time. I uploaded photos of my last holiday onto Flickr and now have added this image of Venice from my collection to my blog while dreaming of my trip back there later this year.

Still haven't workout adding a slideshow of my images onto the blog. Maybe the brain might be better after lunch!

Learning 2.0 - the beginning

Its pretty cool that 75% of the staff at our library have taken up the challenge and signed up for Learning 2.0!

Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 isn't completely new to me but there are definite gaps in my knowledge so this is a great, easy way to fill in the gaps. I am really enjoying the flexibility of the program and being able to fit it in easily into my day.

This is not my first blog. We have set up a blog for our staff as a way for our Info Services team to let other staff know of different reference tools, websites, and other bits of info that we come across.

Really looking forward to RSS feeds and Podcasts.
